15 Minute Screening On IMAX
written at Saturday, August 22, 2009
After 10 years since the mega hit "Titanic", James Cameron is finally back with his new movie "Avatar" and be prepared to be blown away. The selling point isn't so much what Titanic was, but something very different, photorealism and 3D. James Cameron is known for his epic movies and he has never let his fans down, he has directed movies like "Aliens" and "Terminator" as well.
I was watching the Avatar trailer online and it didn't seem as good as it did watching the 15 minute preview screening at IMAX in 3D which was shown free of charge. Got my parents to tag along with me since we were going out to dinner after, I think it was my mum's first time sitting in a cinema in a long time.
What's the big hype about the movie? It is the most expensive movie ever made. The technologies used during the production of the movie is the most advanced to date. The scenes are filmed using a stereoscopic camera which mimics the human eye, that is why the whole movie can be seen in 3D provided you went to a 3D cinema. The characters in the movie are absolutely photorealistic, dare I say it looked better than anything I have ever seen. Seeing it on the trailer is one thing but after stepping out of that 15 minute preview, I was sold.
The aliens looked beautiful, I knew they were all CGI but I couldn't believe my eyes and kept questioning myself, "Is that really CGI?" Weta digital has done an amazing job designing everything, home grown New Zealand talent :P
I will not spoil it for the rest of you guys, if you have any doubts (mostly Andrew Lai) go see the preview for yourself! Or wait till december to see its sheer greatness.

What matters supremely, therefore, is not
in the last analysis, the fact that I know God,
but the larger fact which underlies it --
the fact that He knows me.
