Auckland Food Show
written at Saturday, August 1, 2009

The Auckland food show has been going on every year for the past decade and ever since it opened, it has been getting more and more popular each year.

Every year the exhibition invites various food companies and produce suppliers to display their products. Headed to the exhibition today with Mum.

As expected the whole place was packed full of people, it really reminded me of the IT shows in Suntec City. We walked from one end of the exhibition to the other, trying various foods along the way.

For example, some coffee companies would be brewing some samples for you to try, meat produce, organic and exotic foods.

Well known chef from Hawke's Bay Malcom Redmond, who used to be personal chef to the Governor General of New Zealand, headed down to make some demonstrations before an audience. To be honest, I didn't see what was so special about the food he made. He probably made those dishes to demonstrate simplicity and ease of preparation when cooking at home. I was expecting more culinary flare from him.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience! Posted some photos on facebook, do have a look. Spent a total of $120 on produce, goodness me. This will last us a couple of weeks/months. Now that I'm back, time to hit the books!
