Name Above All Names
written at Tuesday, October 20, 2009

I thank the Lord for revealing these verses for me, it couldn't come at any better time! How convicting! A refreshing reminder that one drink of Christ will not suffice, as we are reminded in John 4:14 that it won't be a mere sip but "The water I give him will become in him a spring of water." In these times we will never thirst, we will never go hungry. So...What now?

Jeremiah 20:9 (New International Version)

But if I say, "I will not mention him
or speak any more in his name,"
his word is in my heart like a fire,
a fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary of holding it in;
indeed, I cannot.

I was reading through these verses and was meditating on it, was also going through Psalms 51:12, "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." I take things for granted at times, this life, I have been so blessed, at times I feel that I'm doing nothing with it. Just going through life without a care in the world, in other words, I couldn't care less. At times when exams are up, when assignments are due, His name just seems to be mentioned less as the stress and the busy schedule sets in.

I pray that We will speak of His name, in our many journies, wherever we are. We won't be merely comfortable, but be so stirred from the inside that we can't hold it in, indeed as Jeremiah mentioned, "I cannot." As Thomas Brooks said, a good name is always better than a great name and a name in heaven is infinitely better than 1,000 names on earth! Lord your name is infinitely worthy.

Crowds have lined the narrow street
To see this Man from Galilee
Just a Carpenter

Some say leading fools astray
Yet many kneel to give Him praise

And in His eyes they glimpse The Power
That sees the Heart of all Men
And he knows his Fathers mind and He speaks His Fathers words
For He comes in the Name Of The Lord!
