Blow Your Own Expectations Out Of The Water
written at Monday, December 21, 2009
I'm back from YM Camp and I can summarize what I've learnt in one simple sentence, "Your own expectations will be shattered and God will work in whatever way He desires and wills." I came to camp expecting something, yet I felt a bit disappointed and confused when things turned out the way it did on the first night. I was wondering what God was up to. And then over the next few days, He gradually revealed the big picture to me. YM is maturing and is growing deeper.
I brain-slapped myself for being so ignorant, shame on me for whipping out the criteria list for what I personally expected and wanted out of a service or the way I wanted God to work. It was a humbling experience. And I thank God for opening my eyes to these things. I thank God for the camp committee who had this vision from the beginning. Away from the emotional hype, away from the loudness, but in the stillness, in the silence, in the solitude. In what seems to be the ordinary, the non-extravagant, the Lord works in the hearts of many.
I thank God for Kailyn and Brandon who helped to lead the group The Wine Workers. I have personally seen them grow so much, upon observation, at a distance I have seen their lives grow closer to God. It has been a great honour to be serving along side them and I hope that the whole group will stay in touch. Let this not be the end of the journey, but the beginning of an amazing one, a lifelong communion with the Lord. By the way I am addicted to Chop Chilli Chop, if you don't know what it is, ask me.
It has been a great honour serving along side my brothers and sisters at Philotheos as well. We're definitely growing deeper as a ministry. I pray that we will be even more sensitive to the spirit and listen to God more, in prayer. Most of all I think we have to work on praying for each other more, and praying for unity within the ministry.
Overall YM Camp 09 has been different, different in a good way. I'm sure many of our friends can agree on this statement. We're back, back into the world, but not of the world. May the Lord continue to guide us. We are living for our King.

What matters supremely, therefore, is not
in the last analysis, the fact that I know God,
but the larger fact which underlies it --
the fact that He knows me.
