"My mind rebels at stagnation." -Sherlock Holmes

The quote about got me thinking. I can be busy working on my assignments, making notes from the lectures, preparing myself for the resumption of University. My mind will definitely be very busy. There will be a lot of think about, it requires a great deal of concentration and discipline. This quote gives me a reality check. I hope it does for you guys too.

Stagnation, what is it? I can be so busy with everything else that I neglect or do not put priority to knowing Him more. I guess in part this is what stagnation is. I need to have more reality checks, I need to be intentional and mindful of where I am, what journey I am taking along the way everyday. I have to ask myself the questions to make sure I am not detracting, detracting from what? My faith of course. New Zealand or Singapore, one environment being more stressful than the other? That's not the point, the point is, wherever I am, am I making use and setting aside some time to commune, to pray, to learn more about Him?

I've seen it in many of the friends throughout life, they will say that everything is going okay in their spiritual journey, "It's alright, I'm okay where I am." The many months and years later will see them fall so far away. I must not be complacent, I must not have the false impression that everything is going okay, I do not want my heart or my mind to stagnate, because it will bring about rebellion. There's an English/German traditional proverb (non-biblical) which says that an idle mind is the devil's workshop. How true.

University, studies, laughter, fun, life, sure. But ultimately, I pray that I will have the discipline to dwell in Him everyday, above all things...

I want to remain content in my discontentment. I want to keep running the race. Not for my gains, but that I may better learn and know how to glorify God in whatever I do...

2 Timothy 4:6-7
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
