Music In God's Ears
written at Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Amos 5:21–24
I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them. Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

Inequality
written at Monday, May 30, 2011

I enjoy my majors so much, I love what I'm studying and I find it such a great opportunity to be learning all this at this point in my life, I'm seriously considering the Business School's honours programme (if I can get the grades for it) which would be another year of post-graduate study. But something beyond the academics and the research surrounding my discipline of study, there are certain issues that touch the heart deeply, and it has been on my mind a lot every time I write about it, or learn more about it.

My chosen discipline of study had also opened my eyes to the reality that is. Capitalism, greed, human nature and how it affects other human beings. There is a great divide between the rich and the poor, there is a greater disparity in income and standard of living. Countries with ever-increasing debt which they are unable to get out of as it will cripple them, politicians who pocket the money, foreign multinational corporations flooding the countries to exploit the cheaper labour. There are surrounding arguments about the pros and cons of MNC involvement in these countries, but the reality still remains, talk about it as much as you want in your dark black suits, around a large rose-wood table.

In 1980, the 10% of the worlds' income is 79 times higher than the poorest 10%
In 1999, this head increased to 117 times higher.
Exclude China and its stunning economic growth from the above statistics and you find that the ratio increases from 79 to 90 and 117 to 154 respectively.

“These are the ravages not just of poverty but of a system where unregulated, or corporate-regulated, global and domestic markets produce horrifying inequalities in the basis conditions of peoples’ lives” (Weissman 2003, 17)

“Private drug companies have no incentive to invest R&D funds in vaccines or drugs for diseases endemic to poor countries…because there is no sizable market” (Weissman 2003, 16).

There's still so much to be done...

He graces an army of weak so that they can achieve beyond that of an army of strength.

Take These 5 Loaves 2 Fishes

A little boy with a fish sandwich.
I want to say, "I don't have much, but whatever I have I give."

What's Right
written at Thursday, May 19, 2011

Even when I don't want to do it, even when I'm too exhausted, even when I feel like I'm losing my patience, even when the situation is a challenging one, even when I feel that things cannot get any worse, even when the frustration kicks in, even when the last bit of energy is spent, even when I feel that people around you don't understand, even when I feel that there's so much confusion and uncertainty, even when I feel that I cannot carry on.

It's not about what I feel, it's about doing what's right.
Because Jesus did it, so that we would be in a right relationship with the Father. He made it right.
I want to know more about Jesus. I want to seek His righteousness.

Greater Than Life

Our worship tells the world just how big the cross of Christ really is to us.

Take Heart

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

A Greater Message
written at Monday, May 16, 2011

There is nothing like Your love
No exchange for all You gave
To be welcomed into life
So I can know a love that saves

And now forever to belong
To walk with You for all my days
There's no greater love than this
You are the author and the way

This is the sound of the redeemed
Rising up to praise the King
Our hope is in You

There's an inner desire, a deep longing. Not just to sing this song while keeping in mind the salvation that He has freely offered me, the grace that He has given to me so freely.

I feel that there's a greater message in this song. Reaching out. Wouldn't be a beautiful thing, to see your grandparents, University friends, sing this song with you? God loves them too.

Jesus Come

Here is Your bride. We are standing here together
Ready to rise and to be with You forever
With love in our eyes we will meet in the sky
Jesus come, please come

Here is Your church in the power of Your Spirit
Give us Your Word, how we need to hear it
You said that you will, oh but our prayer is still
Jesus come, please come

Love stands before us now
The whole earth is reaching out
Yearning for Your renown
Jesus come, come, come
Jesus come, come, come

Waiting, we long for the glory of Your presence
Hearing our song as it echoes through the heavens
We will arrive because You are alive
Jesus come, please come

Let Your glory be revealed. Let Your glory be revealed
Let Your glory be revealed in my life, in my life

Happy Mother's Day
written at Sunday, May 8, 2011

Love you mum, you will always have a special place in our hearts.
You are still as glowing and radiant as ever.

“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised” (Proverbs 31:30). Thank you, Lord, for a mother who fears the Lord.

Anandaban Hospital Sign
written at Saturday, May 7, 2011

Abigail was sharing her experiences in Nepal on Friday. Scrolling through some of the pictures on the power point, the beautiful scenery, the beautiful people, the beauty behind the simplicity of the lives that many of them lead. So she went on to share about her experiences at Anandaban Hospital, the largest leprosy hospital in Nepal. The thing that stood out for me was a picture of this hospital sign. Read it.

1 John 3:18 (NIV), "Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."

Point of reflection for me.

Micah 6:8
written at Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Help us love mercy
Help us do justly
Help us walk humbly
With You God

You could feed the whole world
With the crumbs of old bread
Spread the good news
Through dreams and stones
With a breath of the wind
You could raise up the dead
But You ask us to go

Forget not the widow
The orphan and slave
O God please remember
The helpless today
Call on Your children
Repairing the breach
There is no place too far
That Your mercy can't reach

For the children who sleep
Beneath the cities at dark
Let love go and touch them
With Your Father's heart
