Because He Loves You

Why? Because He loves You that's why.
We sometimes have this weird compartmentalization thing going on, where we don't think that God sees all that we are sometimes? Or that, if He could, or somehow knew who we were going to be, He wouldn't have gone to the Cross?
This evening I was struck once again with a very powerful but simple truth. And I just want to repeat that again and again for myself, because it just brings tears of gratefulness to my eyes.
God knew we were going to be messy, Christ knew that we were going to be messy. God knows that we're going to mess up often, He knows that we are going to be drawn to things that are wicked. But that's not the crescendo, that's not the end of it.
You're going to fail and that you're going to stumble, you're going to feel dirty, you're going to feel awkward, and in all of this, the whole point of the Cross of Christ is that there is this
mighty picture of His love and pursuit of you in all of this. So the Cross is necessary because of us, but it is also the picture that we have of just how far God is willing to go because He loves us, His deep and abounding love for us.

What matters supremely, therefore, is not
in the last analysis, the fact that I know God,
but the larger fact which underlies it --
the fact that He knows me.
